LG has just unveiled the Ultra HD Blu-ray player that many have been waiting for, they offering support for Dolby Vision, as well as other HDR formats. While most 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray players only support the HDR10 standard for vibrant and colour-rich high-dynamic-range visuals, the new LG UP970 will also support the technically superior Dolby Vision format.
LG’s UP970 Ultra HD Blu-ray player delivers a more immersive and vivid viewing experience than ever before. Leveraging the HDR tech that powers Dolby’s most advanced cinemas around the world, Dolby Vision transforms TV experience in the home by delivering greater brightness as well as contrast, and a fuller palette of rich colors.
The LG UP970 also features additional picture quality technologies that further enhance the viewing experience for consumers. The new LG UP970 includes support for 10-bit color and Rec. ITU-R BT.2020 color gamut, and playback of high-efficiency video coding (HEVC). It is also compatible with a variety of leading sound formats, including Dolby Atmos, Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio, for a truly cinematic audio as well as video experience.
The UP970 has two HDMI ports, an HDMI 2.0a port for the Ultra HD video output and an HDMI 1.4 for the audio output that can connect with hi-fi devices, such as sound bars and AVRs, to increase sound output quality. With Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections, users can easily stream their favorite online content via YouTube and Netflix, while the USB port allows for playback of movies, music and pictures.
The LG Ultra HD Blu-ray player will be the perfect companion for your 2016 LG OLED TV, or any of the new models from the 2017 OLED or Super UHD range which all offer support for Dolby Vision too.
There is no price or release date on the LG UP970 Ultra HD Blu-ray player, but we will update as soon as we know.
