Sony is announcing the new Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact smartphones, which replace the XZ and X Compact released a year ago. The primary updates to the brand new phones are Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor and subtle designs, which, within the case of the XZ1, include a full metallic body. Further, the XZ1 pair will be some of the first phones to release with Android 8.0 Oreo already mounted.
Sony Xperia XZ1
Sony Xperia XZ1 is a high-performance flagship grade smartphone that runs Android O OS. The Android phone measures 156 x 77 x 7.9 inches and weighs 155g. As we can see to the images, Xperia XZ1 shows off an elegant and minimalistic appearance design defined by its seamless metal loop surface, diamond cut edges and bead brushed exterior. Meanwhile, the smartphone meets IP65/68 water resistant standards, so it withstands splashes, spills and unexpected showers.
Similar with Xperia XZ, Sony Xperia XZ1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and has 4GB RAM, 64GB internal memory and a microSD card slot supporting up to 256GB. Furthermore, the Android phone features a 5.2-inch FHD HDR display with Triluminos display technology, dynamic contrast enhancer and X-Reality for bright, clear images with vivid colors and details.
The Xperia XZ1 has a newly designed 19MP Motion Eye rear camera that features 1/2.3″ Exmor RS memory-stacked sensor and BIONZ mobile image-processing engine for high-quality mobile photography, and it supports super slow motion video recording, motion shot with autofocus burst, and 4K video recording. The 13MP front facing camera with 22mm f/2.2 wide-angle lens is designed for better selfie and video chat. Other specs also include stereo speakers, PS remote play, fingerprint sensor, and 2700mAh rechargeable battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact
Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact shares almost same specs with Xperia XZ1, but it features a more portable form factor for a better grip experience. Moreover, other different features include 4.6″ HD display, 32GB internal memory, and 8MP front-facing camera.
Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact will be rolled out in September, but the pricing hasn’t been unveiled. If you’re interested, jump to Sony official site (Compact version) for its more details.
