Waze is an awesome app for helping you to avoid traffic delays and traffic jams, however it’s not always accurate — such as during events, for example. Well, company is aiming to change that with the new Waze Global Event Partner Program, that’s basically involves the company teaming up with event organizers to help with scheduling road closures, delays, and so on.
What’s more, a Live Map can be embedded on an event’s website to provide updated info on traffic flow and more. Waze says the new effort will help get attendees to and from events faster which will lead to happier fans and, in theory, the more merchandise and concessions sales for the venues. Even if you are not going to the race or game, this app will let you know the areas to avoid when you are heading out on the roads close to where an event is being held.
The new initiative is launching with 20 partners in North America, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Asia. These partners include the likes of the FedEx Field, Georgia Dome, Ford Field, Nationals Park, and others, and more partners, of course, will come as the time goes on. According to Waze, the program is free for the event organizers of any size to join, however acceptance into program does depend on the quality of the Waze network in that local area — in other words, if there are not any Waze users in the area of the event, there’s no point in using the program.
